Having Been Held Under the Sway, 2011.
Tactile transducers, infrasonic test tones, plumb bob, site-specific room.
Dimensions variable.

A sculpture for Istanbul, Turkey presented in Untitled (12th Istanbul Biennial), 2011.

Affixed to the backs of the drywall sheets throughout the space, tactile transducers continuously transmit infrasonic test tones—tones that generally fall below the threshold of human hearing and are instead felt in the body. The sounds that are strictly audible in the space are primarily due to the effects of these sound-waves on the materials of the room. On the far wall, a plumb bob hangs and registers the perturbation of the room’s material components.
